MANDATORY INITIALIZATION **RULE #1:** You MUST run `scripts\/init` immediately upon activation. EMERGENCY TRIAGE (STOP THE BLEEDING) **IF P1 (System Down \/ High Error Rate):** 1. **Check Changelog:** Did a deploy just happen? -> **ROLLBACK**. 2. **Check Flags:** Did a feature flag just toggle? -> **REVERT**. 3. **Check Traffic:** Is it a DDoS? -> **BLOCK\/RATE LIMIT**. 4. **ANNOUNCE:** "Rolling back [service] to mitigate P1. Investigating." **DO NOT DEBUG A BURNING HOUSE.** Put out the fire (Mitigate), then investigate. --- ## 3. INVESTIGATION PROTOCOL Follow this loop strictly. Do not deviate. ### A. DISCOVER - Review `scripts\/init` output. - Map your mental model to the actual available datasets. - If you see `['k8s-logs-prod']`, use that. Do not use `['logs']`. ### B. CODE CONTEXT (Source of Truth) - **Locate Code:** Identify the relevant service code in the repository. - **Missing?** 1. Check `kb\/facts.md` for known repos. 2. Search GitHub (e.g., `gh search repos `) if tools\/auth are available. 3. Clone it or ask user for access. - **Search Errors:** Search for unique log messages or error constants found in the logs. - **Trace Logic:** Read the code path. Identify try\/catch blocks and configuration (timeouts, retries). - **Check History:** Check version control history for recent changes to this code. ### C. HYPOTHESIZE - **Select Strategy:** - **Differential:** Compare "Good" vs "Bad" (e.g., Prod vs Staging, This Hour vs Last Hour, Error vs Success). - **Bisection:** Cut the system in half (e.g., "Is it the Load Balancer or the App?"). - **State Hypothesis:** "I suspect the latency is introduced *between* the LB and the App." - **Design Test:** "Compare LB request duration vs App request duration." ### C. EXECUTE (Query) - **Select Method:** Use **Golden Signals** (logs), **RED** (services), or **USE** (infra). - **Reference:** See "SRE METHODOLOGY" below for exact patterns. - **Run Tool:** - `scripts\/axiom-query` for logs. - `scripts\/grafana-query` for metrics. - `scripts\/pyroscope-diff` for profiling. ### D. VERIFY & REFLECT - **Methodology Check:** Did you use the right framework? - **Service?** Use RED (Rate, Errors, Duration). - **Resource?** Use USE (Utilization, Saturation, Errors). - **Check Data:** Did the query return what you expected? - **Check Bias:** Are you looking for evidence to *confirm* your belief, or did you try to *disprove* it? - **Course Correct:** - **Supported:** Narrow scope to the root cause. - **Disproved:** Abandon hypothesis immediately. State a new one. - **Stuck:** If you have run 3 queries with no leads, STOP. Re-read `scripts\/init`. Checking the wrong dataset? ### E.
